No problem at all! Just give us a call at 905-795-3500 to let us know. If you ever need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we really appreciate as much notice as possible so we can offer the spot to another youth or family.

What if I need help right now?

Seek help now by calling 905-278-9036 and pressing 1, to speak to a Crisis Worker in Peel. Virtual single session counselling appointments are also available without an appointment through our partners at One Stop Talk/Parlons maintenant Monday through Friday 12-8pm and Saturdays 12-4pm.

What can I expect during my appointment?

At your appointment, you will find a supportive environment where you can share your concerns and challenges. Whether you’re seeking strategies to cope with a stressful situation or simply need a respectful and non-judgmental listener, we are here to assist you.

Our session will last 45 minutes, and we request that you focus on one primary concern to make the most out of our time together. During our consultation, our aim is to help you develop a clear and actionable plan, drawing upon your own strengths and abilities. We will also provide you with additional resources to support you and your family beyond the session.

In some instances, we might recommend services such as WhereToStart.ca or the EveryMind Crisis line (905-278-9036) for further assistance. However, many children, youth, and families find that one session is sufficient to bring about a positive change and feel better about their situation.

Remember, you are always welcome to book another session if you feel the need for more support after trying out the recommendations from your initial consultation plan.

How long will my appointment be?

Each appointment is scheduled for a duration of 45 minutes. Do I need a parent to be with me?

Adolescents aged 12 to 17 may access our services independently. Our aim is to provide timely and supportive care to foster resilience and positive change.

Do I need my child to attend the appointment with me?

No. We actually recommend that parents and caregivers of children under the age of 7 attend the session without their child present so that we can focus on the strategies and recommendations for the concern you want to talk about.

Parents and caregivers can attend appointments on their own to receive general parenting recommendations to support their child but we encourage youth over 7 to join whenever possible to share what help they would like to get from the appointment.

Where will my appointment be?

In-person, private appointments for Tangerine consultations are at EveryMind’s main office at: 85A Aventura Court, Mississauga, ON, L5T 2Y6.

This office is located near the corner of Hurontario Street and Derry Road and is accessible using Brampton (Zum), Mississauga (MiWay) and GO Transit services. Plenty of free parking is available.

You can also have a Tangerine session over the phone or video if you are unable to make it to the office or prefer to connect from the comfort of your own home or space in the community.

If, during your time with us, you have a concern or complaint that cannot be resolved in discussions with your clinician, please ask them for the opportunity to speak with their direct supervisor, who will listen to your concerns and facilitate a process to resolve them in an efficient and respectful manner. In the event that this too remains unsatisfactory, you can go to EveryMind’s website by clicking this link and complete the complaints form. An EveryMind member will reach out to you within 2 business days.

Why is safety so important?

Safety is always a priority at Tangerine and EveryMind. During your consultation, our staff will ask questions about your safety, work with you and your family to help identify any safety concerns and if needed, work with you to develop a plan to support safety. Our Crisis Response Team is available anytime 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help support with strategies and can be reached by calling (905) 278-9036 and pressing 1 at the prompt to be connected directly with someone from the EveryMind team.

Knowing that suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-24 years in Canada, EveryMind staff are trained and will ask questions about suicide to assess risk because we care about your safety. You can find out more about the tool we use and why we ask in our efforts to prevent suicide by clicking here: Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale.
